The fan of my central air conditioning won't shut off even after we set the thermostat to "off", what's wrong?

Question:

Answers:
only two possible reasons for the fan to do this.1 on your thermostat if it has a fan settings, auto and on, it is possible it is set on on...this will run fan even if you turn cooling part of thermosat to off.if it is on on switch it to auto .2 fan relay is bad in air handler...

its broken!!
Are you sure there is not another button or switch for the fan? If the cool/heat is still working on 'off', your switch has a short in it.
It's all in the thermostat - If you've recently replaced it or had it replaced it is wired wrong, if it is old - it is broken replace it. I would recommend going digital, with higher electric rates, it won't take long to recover the investment. They are more accurate leading to a more efficient operation.
