How far should an interior door be from the floor for proper air recirculation with the a/c?

Question:

Answers:
If we get overly technical, it would depend on the size of the room. The larger the room - the larger the space. 1/2" to 3/4" is acceptable for most conditions.

If there is a cold air return grille in the room, you do not need a door gap at all. If not, 1/2" clear of the carpet should suffice.
The answer to this question would be deterred from the following, carpet and how thick, or solid wood floor and whether you need to keep doors closed? i.e. is there a pet that needs to be excluded from certain rooms etc.. Normal door hanging usually leaves 2mm above the carpet to avoid drag marks and similar to wood floors so no scratches appear.
