Who do I call if I want upstairs' drainpipe to go into the ground instead of into an open drain on my patio?

Answers:
You could call Gordon Brown, he will be moaned at for everything now. but it sounds to me like a small job for a builder, don't go messing with drains yourself, it can be very expensive.
Be sure and read this correctly, some will advise it as being a job for a small builder... give us big lads a chance...
The wisdom of fools - this is nothing whatsoever anything like a French Drain. This is exactly the type of assistance you get in a four ale bar close to chucking out time.....

A plumber
a plumber
A plumber. Do you mean a smokevent? It's a waste pipe from a toilet that goes into the ground, but has a pipe which
goes past your roof to allow vapours from that closed drain to vent.
A handyman would be just right for this type of job,
this type of drain is called a french drain and a plumber is the one to call not a handy man. lots of gravel or the drain will just bubble over creating a run off on your grass. Its a down spount leaching into the gravel under the dirt. you just dont like the water pouring all over your patio i understand that. this drain is very easy to make however as i stated you will need to dig up a small section of the yard near the drain extend the drain pipe into that section, the drain pipe will need to be pilferated meaning it will need small holes so water can leach out into the ground. after the pipe has been extended fill it in with gravel then put the dirt on top and you are done. and it is a form of a french drain i should know im a dang plumber. good luck ps it isnt expensive either! its rather cheap.
Someone who knows more then you do!
It is plumbers work, but expensive job.
call a good builder he will know the man/men to do the job it needs to be done professionally //no cowboys
I would be careful with this. At present the pipe is discharging waste water into a drain and f course this is being taken away for recycling. If the builder/plumber converts this there is a possibility that this water, especially with the amount of rain we have been having, will just disperse into the ground. If this is near your property, unless your going to have an unsightly pipe running off, is there not the possibility of causing damp issues to your property?
