What natural substances can effectively rid your place of ants?

Question:natural substances(i.e.things found in the kitchen)

Answers:
bay leaves. you can get them at any supermarket. ants hate the smell and taste of them. just place a few of them around windows and whatnot, and the ants will run.

Mix the following ingredients in a spray bottle:

10 1/2 ounces of water
3 ounces of hot sauce (Tabasco works very well)
2 1/2 ounces liquid peppermint soap (available at health-food stores)

Just spritz on where ants enter your home.

ANT KILLER

1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 envelope dry yeast

Mix all ingredients together. Place a few drops on pieces of cardobard, then place wherever ants are coming in.
Sprinkle a few coffee grounds in the area.
You can use peppermint oil and paint a line using a Q-Tip and they won't cross it. To cover a large area use a damp paper towel to smear the oil, like over a counter top. (When using this product, wash your hands before touching your face or other sensitive areas!)
I never tried it because I don't have any ants. I was told that fine cornmeal work's. They eat it but they can't digest it. They take back to the nest and the nest dies.
cream of tartar ants hate it just sprinle it where ever they are and they will leave
