Every time I turn on my furnace (heater or AC) a moldy smell penetrates through my house?
Question:What could the problem be? How can I fix it?
Answers:
It could be mold in your ducts- call a service man to clean them out. Most carpet cleaning places do it.
Try a Hepa Filter - if that doesn't work - you may need to call a service man.
You probably have mold in your ducts. Whej was the last time you had them cleaned?
There is moisture accumulating somewhere in your system. Have a technician come out and look at it.
YIKES... I hope you don't mean central air, and you have mold in the tubes...
Maybe you should have the ducts cleaned out
the smell juss might b cumin from your basement and if i was u i would go down stairs and check it
try a different filter, or getting your ducts cleaned check the air returns for moisture that may indicate mold in the ductwork
You probably need to call a service person out to clean the air ducts, sounds like mold in the ducts.
first, have a tech come and clean the ducts, mold is dangerous so it has to be eliminated. if you still notice a bad smell, try a dehumidifier in the basement...clean filters are needed every month and for those of us who have a sensitive nose--they sell scented ones. air cleaner/puifiers can eliminate dust and pet dander and should help with smelly houses too, they'll have instructions as to how many you need to cover the involved space(s)--these also have filters that need changing frequently (hepa). for those people with allergies, removing carpets and replacing with hardwood floors is helpful.
Time to change the filter.
I would check the condensate pan for the a/c coil. the drain tube is probably plugged and u have stagnant water or debris in the pan. al the air passes through this coil whether heating or cooling. You should be able to access from a panel on the side of the coil. clean out the drain hole, pour water into the pan to flush out. a small amount of bleach is helpful in the cleaning water
