What is the best method to clean acoustic ceiling tile?

Question:we want to clean classrooms so it has to work and be safe

Answers:
Unfortunately, you cannot use anything that is liquid based because it will turn the acoustic tile yellow and leaves a water ring. I have never found anything that could be used to clean them, other than vacuuming off the dust, there really is no product you could use that wouldn't do more damage than the dirt that is probably on them.

You can clean them with an air compressor and a blow gun turn the air pressure down low enough that it does not damage the tiles in most cases you can do this without removing them (big time saver).then you just have the floor cleanup to do when finished.
I don't think they can be cleaned. I would recommend taking them down and painting them. If they are really dirty, or have any water stains, etc...use KilzPrimer . Sometimes if you apply a really good coat of the Kilz, you might not even have to topcoat, since it is white. Just use a roller, and it shouldn't be much trouble. While you have them down ((And make sure you number them or something, if you have any that are cut to fit)) clean the tracks very well with a multi-purpose cleaner. And you can even spray paint, or roll them if needed:) You don't want your nice white tile sitting in dirty looking gridwork:)
Good Luck!!
