What is the pricing of the Trane XR-13 model?
Question:I live in the midwest and I'm buying a new AC. It's a Trane XR-13 model (3-ton). I'm not getting a new indoor coil. The only thing being replaced is the outside AC unit and necessary parts for it.
What is the general price for this?

The 2 1/2 ton XR13 compressor & air handler could be installed for about $4100 plus or minus, depending on where you live. I've also seen estimates for the 1 1/2 ton system running anywhere from 3500 to 7000. Quite a range I know, but go figure. Guess it's highly variable. Not sure about a 3 ton.
It depends on the prices in your area. A Trane XR-13 is an upper end piece of equipment so its gonna cost more. I'm in Alabama and do change-outs for about $1200 - $1600 per ton of air. But that's in Alabama. It could be higher or lower in your area.
They (hopefully) are changing the indoor coil as well. If you attach a high end piece of equipment to a low end coil, you will not receive the efficiency you are paying top dollar for.
