How can I clear up cloudy pool water?

Question:It rained a week straight so I turned my pump off. Now my pool water is all cloudy. I have already tried a shock treatment and it did not work. What should I do?

Answers:
It might need to be backwashed? That cleans the sand in the filter and allows it to work better. Pool places also sell clarifier... get your Chlorine, Ph & alkalinity readings handy and give them a call.

shock, back flush and add some water clarifier. Be sure to give pump some extra running time
sodium dichlor i lb per 10,000 gallons of water is normal usage for a pool in good shape once a week. in your case . backwash your grids or backwash your sand filter and or acid wash your cartridges for which ever type of filter u have. if you use muratic acid you have to use gloves and rinse the filters very well then add about 4 lbs of sodium dichlor to jump start the clearing process. you can also use a water clarifier called sea klear green, to bind the small particles together so your filter WILL catch them. run your pool 24 hrs a day till water clears up !
