How hard is it to install emergency gas shutoff valve?
Question:
Answers:
YOU DONT. This is strictly a job for a certified gas fitter. Somebody like an AC guy or a plumber is your answer. This is definately not a do-it-yourself project. Gases like propane and natural gas are heavier-that-air gases. That means when they leak out, they settle on the floor and build up. Most of the time its not detected before its too late.
DO NOT RISK IT. Saving a few bucks is not worth risking your or your families lives. Hire a professional.
depends on where you are putting it...
How much pipe wil need to be run to put it there?
How many holes are you putting in walls, ceirlings, floors??
Are you replacing the old valve because of it going bad? If so, you cna plan on needing some pipe to be replaced.
The valve itself is very simple... and can be installed in 5 minutes.
If you don't know how, then learning off a chat board is not a good idea. If not done properly, a gas leak WILL result. Then the moment the utility lights, instant third degree burns for anyone in the area. Plus a burned house.
EDIT:
To try to explain, on a one way chat board, every precaution and every procedure, would be negligent at the very least. Either read some real how to books or hire a professional. Please do not do it from advice learned here.
look at gas meter,it is the best one you have!
