My Briggs&Stratton push mower won't start.?
Question:I've had my 3.5 horse Briggs & Stratton push mower for about 25 years with no problems. A week ago I cleaned the engine with "Engine Brite", requiring the last step of hosing down with water. I covered the carb. , magneto, and gas cap. It started fine, and I ran it for 10 minutes. A week later, no start. Cleaned the plug. No start. Cleaned the magneto/flywheel contacts with carb cleaner. No start. Got a spark, but not sure if it was good enough. This never happened before. What to do?

Try the points and condenser...if you have a push mower, its most likely this or the spark plug, and you said that you have already checked it. If that doesn't work, try spraying starting fluid in where your spark plug screws in...
Hope that you didn't get water in the combustion chamber. If you did, you may have problems until it is gone.
Just make sure you have gas in it first.
Is there gas in it. Is the choke working? Is the gas shut off valve open? Is the air filter clean and dry. Does the governor spring seem to be working. If all is yes, time to take it to the shop.
take a cap full of denatured alcohol no more than a cap put it in the cylinder and try that it worked on my power washer
If your mower is 25 years old, it has points and condenser ignition system. They are notorious for going bad when a small amount of water get on them. Replace them with a good tune-up and your mower should be ready for another 25 years of mowing
