2 cycle engine oil to make 40:1?
Question:whats the math to make 40:1 mix?
Answers:
There's 128 ounces in one gallon, so divide the 128 by 40 and that will give you the number of ounces of two cycle oil you need for one gallon of gasoline. You would need 3.2 ounces of oil for the mix. My weed eater uses a 32:1 mix so I use 4 ounces of oil. my chainsaw calls for 50:1 (2.6 oz of oil)and I use the 32:1 in both without problems.
40:1 works out to 3.2 fluid oz per gallon, so you could use any standard measuring cup, take the number of gallons you put in and multiply by 3.2 and put in that many fluid oz of oil.
assuming you are mixing 1 gallon of gas:
1 gal = 128 oz. devide that by 40 = 3.2 oz. oil per gallon of gas.
Check the cap on the gas tank. It may have a measure on it.
1 unit divided by 40 units.
1/40 = 0.025 (but how many ounces is .025 of a gallon?)
1 US gallon of gas = 128 ounces, 128/40 = 3.2 ounces
1 Imperial gallon of gas = 160 ounces, 160/40 = 4 ounces
1 liter = 1000 milliliters, 1000/40 = 25 milliliters
4 liters = 4000 milliliters, 4000/40 = 100 milliliters
The math seems to be easier when using the Metric system.
