All doors are open, all ceiling fans are on...?

Question:We opted for the 4 ton to replace a 2 ton (that actually cooled the house better) I think the AC gomer that came out to check it didn't really do a complete inspection.he just went around to all of the vents in the house and shot his little hand held temp checker at all the vents and claimed that the air coming out of the vents was 63 degrees, I just thought it should be cooler air coming out to begin with. but he wrapped up and left saying that everything looked good to him.he was a sub-contracter mind you.

Answers:
Debbie,
63 degree air coming directly off of the evaporator fan is not cool enough regardless of what he has told you. I am assuming this is a new unit and if less than a year should be under warranty. They have done something wrong, either they did not install the unit correctly, blown ductwork somewhere, evaporator in the furnace too small to handle the 4 ton condenser outside, or the unit is slightly undercharged. Call them back and raise hell...let me know if I can help..tvtop_toptv

REFUND, DO THE FOUR TON ITS BETTER CIRCULATION THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE
Check in the attic for a loose connection on a ventalation pipe.
One may have been dislodged during the installation of the new unit.
The extra pressure from the larger blower may have ruptured a weak spot.
just turn down your thermostat, if you close al lthe doors and windows, you will be cold ,if it a new unit
Why not check the temps your self? seems easy enough. Its hard to say whether or not you can trust the sub contractor, on one hand most contractors will come up with all sorts of problems just to get more of your money. On the other hand, some may feel that you are wasting their time and they dont think that you are worth their time, so they just rush through the job and do it poorly. Call the company you purchased the cooler from, and tell them you are not happy with the performance of the unit. Tell them you still dont feel that it works correctly. If they dont send out someone who is competent to look things over and even if they do, and you are still not satisfied, start threatening to spread the word of their crappy customer service and poor quality equipment. You can start by standing around their store with a big sign stating the facts about their store, or take out a personal ad telling it like it is. Call the store frequently and complain to the manager, or any one else. Call consumer relations or somebody. Most companys know that customer service is very valuable to their business.
A 4 ton AC .. WOW! You must have a huge house in a very hot location!! I would hate to see your electric bill! The 2 ton cooled better, you opt for something twice the size. You have too much cooling and not enough recycling of air. Next time, choose wisely!
Oversizing an air conditioner only causes the unit to short cycle. The unit needs to run long enough to remove humidity.not just satisfy the thermostat. The air coming out of the vents should be about 18-20° colder that the temperature of the air going in to the return air ducts. 68° would only be correct if it was about 88° in the room. You probably made a bad decision in oversizing your air conditioner. It's actually better to have one that is a bit undersized and let it run all day long than have one that is oversized and only run for short periods of time. Starting a compressor over and over takes it's toll on your electric bill and the compressor itself. It also does not run long enough to dehumidify your home and cause you to set your thermostat at a lower setting in order to feel comfortable. A reputable contractor would have informed you of these issues. Obviously you got ripped off.
