Is it posible to turn a AC welder into a DC welder by switching the leads?


Question:By leads; I mean switch the electrode holder with the ground clamp.

NO!! A DC welder has a full wave bridge rectifier built in also which is required to create DC weld current.Good Luck!!

You will have a much better chance of being electrocuted if you clip your nuts to a car battery and jump into a pool. Oh yeah ACDC !!!
NO! I am sure you could engineer some sort of a high power rectifier but that would cost more than 2 good MiG welders.
