How do I change the Valve in my Tap?
Question:It's leaking whenever I turn on the hot water. The problem is that the "nut" is stripped and there is nothing to grip.
How do I get the valve out to replace it?
Here's a pick to clarify the part I mean...

I've been doing plumbing for years. Looks like you have two options based on the picture you posted.
You can try vise grips like stated above or you can you a file or hack saw blade to create a little slit in the nut. Once you have a little slit/indention in the nut you can put a flat head screw driver there and tap it with a hammer to break free the packing nut.
Looking at the overall condition of the sink fixture. I might would suggest you consider changing the hole thing out. You can get a good looking fixture for under $100 at you local home improvement warehouse. Weight the parts cost, time, and aggervation you are going to have to go though fixing this fixture. I'm not saying it's not repairable but, if I were mine I would change the whole thing out.
Good luck.
Try a Vise-Grip or similar tool. Get a replacement nut, of course.
In the past I have been able to put the screw back in with a big a s s washer (fender washer) and pry it off. You do need but a new one though.
soak it with rustbuster
and use needle nosed vise gripps
I agree with Condar_1, change the whole thing out, it will be a lot less trouble in the long run and you will be much happier with the result.
its always the hot water, the valve seat is cracked, the washer is worn out to the nut on top is a packing nut.
I know this might sound crazy, but take a few rubber bands and put them around the nut, this will give you traction, now take the wrench and turn . I use rubber bands for everything, opening jars, removing pipes, etc.
condar answer rocks.
hope the vice grips work though, alot easier.
if the whole thing starts to turn secure it and keep going. you dont want to twist the hose off...turn the h2o off first.

Be careful with the vice grips. I tried that once, the grips slipped off, and I ended up with a black eye. Not fun. What you need is something that will grip the nut. I'm thinking along the lines of those rubber things that help you open jars. Put one of those under a wrench or vice grip and you might get enough leverage. There's also a kind of pipe wrench that is essentially a strap with a handle. You can loop it around anything and the handle is designed to give you the leverage. They're not expensive - under $10 I would think.
Good luck!
