You can fix it. Go to your local music store and ask for a (set of) replacement key(s). It may help to take the guitar with you in case the "key" damaged in the drop cracked any part of the headstock. If the key is just broken you can just unbolt it and replace it with a new one. You may not be able to replace it with the exact match so I would replace all to match. Guitar strings are cheep and should be replaced at a min. of every 40 or so hours of use if you play often. I've been playing for about 25 years.
I don't know the Pound amount but in America the keys are about $50 and strings are around $5.
The Pound is almost 2 to 1 to the dollar so about 25-30 for the keys and about 3 for the strings. Good luck!
A woodworker or an instrument repair shop should be able to help you, try Google "musical instument repair" and add your locality.
to simply answer you: Yes,u could fix it yourself, everything under USD10,that's if you can find seperate (not in a complete set) item for that tuning head & string. if you're not sure how, just bring your guitar to a guitar shop ;p
First consider the value of your guitar. If it is not to expensive of a guitar you may just replace it. If it is a higher end instrument you should take it to a luthier.
A luthier is a guitar repairman by trade and he would know how to fix it properly and also tell you if anything else is damaged from the accident.
