I require help repairing a self propelled troy-built lawnmower?
Question:IT TURNS OVER, BUT BLOWS SMOKE OUT THE CARB. AND WILL NOT START. CHECKED SPARK PLUG, AND AIR FILTER. THINKING IT MAY BE FUEL PUMP.

Sounds like spark timing or muffler blocked. Not knowing what engine it is makes it more difficult. If it's a single cylinder engine it could be that it has sheared the woodruff key in the flywheel.That will put the spark timing out and is firing when the inlet valve is still open.

The timing is off. Or the intake valve is stuck open. Most likely the timing.
