What is a cost effective way to replace the shingles on my roof.?
Question:At the same time I would like to increase the R value of the roof by selecting the best type and colour shingle.

well can you do the work yourself? if you can i suggest metal roofing and heres why i've put many shingled roofs up and i've put very few metal roofs up and my conclussion is that one shingles take a really long time and money to replace and deal with. but with a metal roof its a lot cheaper plus if you have shingles on the roof you don't have to take them off to put a metal roof on. plus its 30 times quicker to put it up and on the first time i put a metal roof on it was on in less than a full day there was only two of us putting it up we were surprised how quick it went up and if you would like a special color they've got it maybe you'll have to order it from lowes or home depot but i'm telling you its worth it both by money and by the headache of shingles. oh and if you do decide metal don't forget to put the strip of sealer between sheets. good luck i hope i've helped ya
