Is my house rotting underneath the ground? (pictures)?
Question:We dug a hole outside our house about a 3 feet deep, is it normal that there's this much water? It has been raining lately but not more than normal. The walls are really moist and sometimes when it does rain alot the water seems to leak through the walls, not like gallons of water but it makes a small puddle. The reason I'm asking is because we're either going to renovate the house or sell it and we don't feel like renovating it if it's like already rotting away. The hole we dug is about 3 feet deep.

I'm really freaked out by this?
Answers:
Concrete will NOT rot underwater. If you have no wood underground, don't be too concerned. Dig a trench around your house and install a French drain running all around the house and then down into a lower field to promote drainage.
did you check for a leaky pipe
it might be, you have a high water table,. But what is that pipe if thats a main water line you probaly have a leak in it you need to have someone look at that pipe Good luck.
Fiberglasscar said it all. dig up around the house and what I did at my house is I ran some perfurated pipe around the house with peet gravel around it and I ran it to a 1,000 gallon catch basin to hold the water. I use this water that I catch to run through my sprinkler system to water the lawn. Also you can have your rain gutters hook into tyhis as well. When you have your foundation exposed get some sealant as reseal your foundation.
