When we set up a water tank, why do we place it higher or at the same level of our rooftops?

Question:Pls. help me. I would really appreciate it.;)

Answers:
you cant make water in a water tank go upwards unless its pumped. the higher the tank, the higher the water pressure. thats why the tank has to be higher then all your water outlets like your shower outlet and also has to be higher then your cylinder.

Simple.Water flows down (Gravity) and the higher it is the greater the pressure.
For every foot of elevation there is 2.31 pounds of pressure. To adequately and cheaply supply water to people in a city, a large amount of pressure is needed. To have pumps on each tower would be very costly and increase the price of the water that is supplied.
