I haven't ever tried the vinegar & lemon remedy that the first one said but that sounds like a good one I may try sometimes...I probably would have tried the old standy of baking soda wash then sat the opened box in closed up microwave for day or so..it takes smells from fridge so I would have figured it would have your burnt smell.either would be worth a shot..as to the safety I don't see why you can't still use it unless you had a terrific fire going in there

clean with vinegar ,then cut a lemon in half and microwave it for 30 seconds
Charcoal placed in a plate and then left in the room will help eliminate odors.

Potatoes can be used for eliminating odors. Cut one in half and them put it in the microwave for a few minutes, they take about 9 minutes to cook. That might help.
Place a cup of water in microwave heat for 2 mins. Then wipe out sides & top with a cloth.Next put 3 tsp of Vanilla in cup of water for 2 mins & wipe clean..smell is gone & microwave is clean
Do the Dumpling, it will work.
It's safe to use and the smell will disapate on it's own. But if you want to rush the procedure put a bar of soap like Dial, Irish Spring, etc and microwave that for a few minutes. Place the soap on a microwaveable safe container before doing this. The bar of soap will take care of all of those smells.
