My submerged well pump will not work tripping breaker?

Question:I have a 220 vac well pump thet will not start and kicks out one of the two breakers. The wiring runs through a control box, through a overload and two caps and a relay. The pump has three wires red yello and black. When I disconnected the wire leads to the pump I could get them to energize. All three legs are hot and show 120 volts to ground. I show 240 acrossyellow to red and yellow to black. Red and black are both energized off the same breaker as I do not read voltage between then. Should these all be energized at once? When I hook pump back up I trip breaker. Help

Answers:
220v means two legs not three. Red is one leg, and b;black is another leg, Yellow I believe would be a neutral. You'll need to wire this to a double pole single throw breaker.

Make sure you read the installation instructions from the pump motor.
