Another a/c question. Please help!?
Question:Can anyone tell me what the purpose of a suction tube on an a/c unit? Our a/c unit was not working properly and my husband realized there wasn't a tube on the side of the unit. Does there need to be one for it to work properly?
Answers:
never heard of a suction tube...what do you mean by this term.now the drain line needs a u in it to prevent the unit from sucking air into the unit through the drain line as this will keep it from draining water
Are you referring to a drainage tube for condensation?
If so, the worst that will happen without one is that it might drip water somewhere that you don't want it to drip, like down the side of the building. Typically more of an issue in the humid places, where lots of condensation drips off the cold evaporator coils.
It's hard to tell from your description, but it sounds like a drip tube. A tube used to drain the condensation from the compressor area to the outside of the unit. I imagine in AZ most installers would omit the tube and let the condensation run off the roof. Yes, you need it to prevent staining of the roof.
its a drain pipe for condensation.
a suction tube? what what?
the suction portion of the equation is for the low side of the ac , it needs a suction tube to access the ac to service it on the low side.
