Can I fix my leaking fridge?
Question:I have an Eaton Viking fridge, model # RF1728RWO and it is leaking periodically. Not every day, but usually in the night I wake up and step in a puddle as I get a drink. I've checked for a pan and I think I found it and it is empty. Could there be another problem I am not aware of? Thanks.

Without ice or water in the unit your problem is almost definately in the defrost cycle (thus the reason it only comes and goes). Whenever your cooling coil defrosts it melts any ice that has built up on it. This ice needs a place to go. If your drain is clogged its going to end up somewhere. Clear the drain under your cooling coil and it should fix your problem.
Can you tell where the leak is coming from.
Do you have one with a drink/ice dispenser in the door.
They sometimes develop a drip because of mineral deposits.
If so try cleaning them with a little vinigear.
If you are not getting water to the ice maker, the line going up to the icemaker delivery tube in the back is broken and its easy to fix. If you dont have an icemaker then your defrost tube is stopped up or not in the pan like its supposed to be.
