Plumbing problem? Drains and toilet...?
Question:The drain in the kitchen sink keeps backing up. It looks like it drains water fine, but it backs up water at the most random times when it's not in use. It's this loud, horrible bubbling noise. I think that bathtub drain did the same thing once, but it hasn't happened again.
I'm pretty sure we're not on a septic tank, which is what everyone has been telling me to check. Any ideas what could be wrong and what I should do?
Answers:
it could be that your septic tank needs to be cleaned if you have one,if you don't know you should ask your neighbors,or your waste line is blocked and is backing up if you have a sewer line.
check to make sure your vents are clear of debis, bird nests, etc
drains can be slow for many reasons blockage is a poss ability also a vent pipe would cause a gurgling noise. the vent pipe is located on your roof and allows air to enter the system. birds and leaves are common culprits in blocking the air needed
The washing machine is probably causing it.
See if it does it when the w/m is draining, probably-
if so, the drain DOES need cleaned out.
