Sink sprayer repair question?

Question:We have a typical cheap faucet/sink sprayer setup in our kitchen. We are selling the house so we do not want to do any extensive repairs. However, the sink sprayer does not work. We completely replaced the sprayer and hose, but still it does not work. What are we missing? The faucet works fine, but just a dribble of water will come out the sink sprayer. Is it the diverter? Or something else? The house is under contract so we need to fix this asap. Thanks in advance!!

Answers:
Sprayers usualy don't have a diverter they are allways "charged" so all you have to do is press the trigger, in which case you cannot replace the build up that is clogging the pipe therefore you will have to replace the faucet (+/- $25 Home depot). If you have a diverter then shut off the valves, remove the knob and then the valve. Clean any build-up and then check the valve mechanism (it should retract when turned counter clockwise, check the seal in the valve it may need replacing too (25-50 cents). if the seal is good try reaching in and try to clean off any build-up.

did it work before.? It may have a build up of some sort..
On the inside of the hose or sprayer itself may still have the plug or type of grommet inside of it still. It's the same concept that they use for when they install a new dishwasher and they have to take out a plug out of the drain or intake line. Check to see if this isn't the cause and water is not getting through besides any hard water build-up. Just unscrew the sprayer and look inside. You can also use a wire clothes hanger straitened out to Go down the line to feel blockage. These are the ends that you need to check! Good Luck!:>)
one got close.. i think its the diverter. on a delta its on the rear of the faucet outlet.. not the hose.. you would need to take the handle off and whatever else to get the faucet pipe off.. sometimes the diverter is just stuck but their pretty cheap
There is usually a plunger-type diveter located under the spout. Sounds like it is sticking. Turn off the water to the sink. Remove the spout. The diverter should be right in front in a recessed hole. Remove the diverter and replace it. The part is not very expensive.
