I can't remove Yale lockset... retaining button won't push... can you advise??

Question:

Answers:
On some cheaper Yale imports, you must turn the inside knob until it aligns with the actual retainer, otherwise you are just pushing against the inner knob stem.

On better Yales, the inside knob is held on with an allen screw.

If trying to remove an outside knob, turn a working key while pressing against the retainer.

get'a new door?

are the screws stuck on the inside of the door?

more info is needed b4 ne1 can help like where you are stuck ect
Try a bit of penetrating oil on the retainer button. If that doesn't work you can hacksaw the neck of the inside knob to slide it off the retainer.
I'm not sure that small pin hole is what you think it is. On my doors, those small pin holes are used if you accidently lock the door and shut it and can't get it back open. You stick a paperclip or smoething in there and it unlocks the door.

On the inside of your door, there should be two screws that are through the back plate that hold the whole thing together. Just unscrew them and the whole knob will come apart and off teh door. OR, on the inside of the door, the plate that is behind the knob may have two indentations on the side of the plate where it "clicks" on the rest of the assembly (sort of a pressure fit) just get something pointy like a fine screwdriver and pop it loose from the door and tehre will be screws that are exposed. Unscrew them and the knob will come off the door.

Hope this helps. I know occasionaly that these things are like mystery puzzles that you just sit and stare out to figure out. Good luck!
