How to install faucet in granite?
Question:Specifically, do I need to install rubber ring and steel washer on top of the granite and on the bottom which is 3/4" plywood. Do I need to apply sealer? Which one? Thanks.
Answers:
Just use the parts supplied with the faucet. If it is real granite, don't use putty, as it will stain the granite. If you want, a small bead of silicone around the hole would be OK! Good luck!
if the holes are there already, you don't need anything other than what came with the faucet. the main thing is DO NOT screw the faucet on super tight, you may crack the stone.
you can use clear silicone topside under the faucet seal (probably some type of plastic gasket) for good measure if you want to, then cut any excess silicone ooze off with a razor after it dries.
The rubber ring goes on top.
The steel ring goes below the ply.
You cannot use plumbers putty on marble.
It doesn't hurt granite.
But your rubber ring will do you, so use it instead of putty.
