Water leaking thru the living room window?

Question:There was a torential rain here in Texas...I have water coming thru the living room window...its exactly the spot where the window goes into the wall the top of the window is leaking water...2 days ago I caulked the outside of the windows and the other 3 windows are fine...But this morning when I reached up to touch the top of the window the sheet rockt hat goes out like a ledge was soggy...any suggestions would be appreciated..also do you think my home insurance company would cover fixing it?

Answers:
Yes your Home Owners Insurance will cover it based on the fact it was caused from a Storm. When I lived on the Coast, I suffered Roof damage and Water Damage leaking into my House through an Upstairs Dormer Window and my Homeowners Insurance paid to fix both of them areas. The Caulking needs to be applied, when the Area is Dry, NOT Wet or it will not stop the leak. Good Luck...

It depends on your deductible and many insurance companies don't cover water damage caused by nature, such as flooding, which they might consider this. If you have caulked, you can try caulking some more, however your sheetrock might have gotten good and soaked and that is what is appearing to leak now. The insulation around the window could be good and wet too.
