Low water pressure?
Question:My home has low water pressure, it's an old house and the plumbing was updated at least 15yrs ago, my water heater is almost 20yrs old. Will installing a booster help or hurt? And what type is preferred?

First thing's first.get a new water heater!! 20 years of rust on that steel tank and it's just itching to burst and flood your home or garage or even worse...your attic!! No matter where it's at just get a new one. If youre home is old, the plumbing being "updated" could mean several things. If your house was repiped with new water lines then that's a step in the right direction. But if your yard line was not replaced then you may wanna do that. Old homes usually mean old galvanized line which rust and corrode on the inside and restrict water flow. You may or may not have a pressure regulator outside..if you do and adjusting doesnt help or is not possible then replace it! First thing you wanna do before you do anything is buy a water pressure gauge at a hardware store that has hose threads and screw it to an outside faucet. Then turn your faucet on. Should be no more than 80psi but you want at least 60 or 65. no matter what it is check your neighbors too.if it's low too then it's probably the city pressure that's low.Good luck!
Are you on a well if so check the pressure tank if its city water may be low pressure in there lines
Try checking the pressure regulator at the front of the house. Maybe it needs adjusting.
