How to fix couch damage from cats?
Question:I just bought a used couch. It has fabric upholstery. There are tiny snags in the upholstery from the previous owner's cat clawing the fabric. Is there a way to shave off the little snags? Like when you have to get fuzz pills off a sweater?
Answers:
go to a fabric store and ask. There is a tiny item about 3 inches long. It's a hook and pull, specifically made for pulling in snags.
So go to your couch and if you can get under the covering to pull thru the snag then do that, if not then go in from the outside and pull in the snag next to it and work your way thru all the snags like that. You can also do this with the head of a pin (a flat head pin)(you know, the kind for pinning up a hem on clothes before you hem them). but it takes longer to use a pin because pins are a lot smaller than that "puller" that you'd buy at the fabric store. It's super inexpensive.
get rid of the cats
find fabric patches
I'm sure this isnt your best answer, but it worked for me.
I guess, depending on the fabric, (mine was on a bed spread, think it has rayon and others in it), I very very carefully took a lighter and singed them. and others that were more of those balls like on sweaters, I used a material shaver (I think thats what they're called). I have to say, it may not be the safest, but it worked absolutley pertect!! You can even tell where they're at.
I guess the only problem would be what kind of fabric. Like cotton wouldnt be a good candidate to use this method on.
Good luck! Smiles!!
you can have the couch recovered at upholstery shop or
you can buy covers that cover the couch. You can order them from Sears, or penny's catalog, or Carol Wright magazine .
Stores like Sears, Penny's, or Wal Mart may sell them.
Go online and order them.
