My air conditioner is leaking at the bottom.?
Question:We have a tube that lets it drain to the outside. My thinking is that everytime the tube gets plugged the unit leaks. Does anyone know about air conditioners that could possibly help me out. Thank you
Answers:
you are right, keep the tube cleansed out
You have accurately described the problem just keep the drain open. Bleach may help some but that may do damage to the housing, just clean out the pan once in a while with a sponge.
there is a drain pan under the unit may be cracked
if you can, pull the unit out from its cabinet, if mounted in a window or thru a wall, the actual cabinet will stay where it is, there should be a few screws that hold the faceplate on, remove those, the unit should then slide out of its cabinet and you can carry it outside, clean the condensor and evaporator coils good and wash out the condensate pan. Let unit air dry before taking back inside. Be sure to have someone strong to help you if its too heavy, this will ensure everything will be good for some time to come, if you do a band aid type fix you will be having the same issue in a week, do it once and do it right! good luck to ya!
towel. simple and effective.
later, buy a new one.
It will not hurt anything. stick a piece of wire in the tube to clean it out. Most of all don't let it worry you.
is it a central unit or window/wall unit. HD carries chemical to clean out coils and drains. If you use it then rinse well with water and also a wet/dry vac to suck out debris in the tube works well.
