Black slate Hearth?
Question:How do i clean black slate.mine looks a dull chalky look...i know this is natural, but i would like to buff it up...but not sure what product to use.
Answers:
black boot Polish
To clean smooth slate, dip a cloth in water with washing-up liquid and wring it out. Scrub the slate thoroughly. Then use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the slate. Use a dry cloth to buff it up.
If this is not effective, you may need to clean it more thoroughly and then use slate oil. Swab the slate with white spirit and then sponge it off. Repeat a couple of times and allow to dry. Then use the slate oil.
you can put raw linseed oil on it and buff up
Try some baby oil, it will dry out around the fire in a very short time but the rest will be very shiny for weeks. Or you can buy a spray for bringing it up but the baby oil is quicker and cheaper.
I'M A TILE AND STONE SETTER, THIS IS GOING TO SOUND CRAZY BUT IT WORKS..DAMP WHITE CLOTH WITH SPRITE ''YES THE SODA'' CLEAN YOUR STONE.THEN WHEN YOUR FINISHED,GO TO HOME DEPOT OR LOWES AND BUY U A ENHANCER LIQUID FOR STONE ,AND JUST WIPE IT ON YOUR STONE..IT WILL GIVE THAT SLATE A WET LOOK
