How do I fix the curb at the end of my driveway?
Question:My sub division street is on a slight hill and the water drains along it (in the south direction), there is a storm drain on the south side of my driveway, but the water is pooling up on the north side of my driveway because of the damage it has sustained due to previous water build up in the winter. So there is a constant pool of water there. The curb and street has broken down a little which is causing this, it is concrete and I live in MI. I don't know if I need the city to fix it or how to fix it if I can, if I do, do I need a permit?
Thanks ahead of time.

if you do decide to do it , with the proper authorization , in order for it to be a "good fix " , then you will need to have at least 5" of concrete in the ground with some rebar or reinforcing wire at the very least . put in some black board for and expansion joint perpendicular to the driveway , and score the curb every four feet to keep cracking to a minimum. you probably should use 3200 lbs concrete to carry the weight of the vehicles. if you need help , get a concrete finisher to work for you on the Sat of the pour, which will cost you about $100 for 3/4 of a day.
Your city is responsible for maintaining curbs and street drainagel.
If your city is anything like Houston you can report it and request a repair, but it may take months or years to get the work done.
If you are really intent on getting it done and are considering doing it yourself, contact the public works department of your city to see if that is permitted.
You do not have the authority to fix this, call your town or city.
You'r kinda stuck. That's public right of way. The city will say no, but it won't be on the top of their priority list. It would probably be approved but only if done by a professional. They would still need to pull a permit from the city.
