A/C in camper keeps tripping breaker?
Question:I have a 2002 Hornet travel trailer and the A/C keeps on throwing the breaker. I am not running anything else, and it runs for like 5 minutes, then shuts off, and I have to keep on walking back there and pushing the switch down and up. Any suggestions?

It is probably drawing too much current for the size of breaker. What number does the breaker have on it? If it is a 15 AMP that is your problem.
You need a minimum of a 20 AMP breaker with nothing else on the circuit.
If you have a long length of extension cord that will also add to the problem. Make sure your extension cord is a minimum of 12 Gage. A 10 Gage is even better.
what size breaker do you have and what is that A/C rated for?, it should state minimum circuit ampacity, the breaker could be undersized or weak, or you are drawing abnormally high amps from a fan motor(failing) or worse the compressor.
Check the current draw on the AC. If it exceeds the rating on the breaker, then there is a problem with the wiring or the AC unit. If the unit is pulling less than the rated amount of current, then you most likely have a breaker going bad. good luck.
the ac could have a short in it or the overload in the ac is bad . you need to ahve the ac check by a cert ac tech
have you had the A/C all this time? If so, I'd check all wiring connections. One may not be making perfect connection causing your problem.
the motor might need oil or a critter might have a nest up there did you look? also the overload may be weak up there on the compressor
have you let it sit up? it might need to be smacked a couple of times with a heavy rubber mallet to jar the motor loose.
is the breaker in the trailer if so sounds like it could be a weak breaker if its the breaker where the trailer is plugged into you will need a dedicated circuit just for the trailer only
