How to adjust shower valve?
Question:The apartment I'm renting has a Symmons Temptrol Model C shower valve. It's a single-handle thing that incorporates flow and temperature into one control. You need to turn it on full blast before it starts to let hot water out, and full blast is much, much more flow than I need. How might I adjust this thing so it yields hot water with lesser flow?
I already had the maintenance people here look at it, but they're none too bright and I couldn't get them to understand the problem. They just ended up replacing the shower head and calling it "fixed".

If your faucet doesn't have 2 handles, one for temperature, and one for pressure, there should be a screw stop to limit how far the handle will turn. Look it up on the web, and you can find an exploded view showing where all the parts are located. Good luck!
The problem is not the head, it is the distance from that device to the boiler room, or hot water heater. You can let it run at a slower rate, but it would take significantly longer to get hot. The consumption is probably close to the same in gallons. So if it were me I'd blast it.
