How do I get our washer to spin water out of clothes?
Question:It's a stackable Maytage washer/dryer combo. I can't get it to spin water out of even a small load. I've notice the lock light doesn't come on now either. It can be opened at anytime in the cleaning cycle.
Answers:
The switch problem is preventing the spin cycle from running. Although it worries me that a front load would still fill and run without the lock light on! A washing machine is most hazardous when in spin mode, so it is designed with an interlock (a control that shuts off spinning of the door is opened).
Check around the switch on the door to see if something is stuck in there preventing the switch from working. If no luck, time to call out the infamously bored Maytag repair man. Or Sears.
Hopefully you did not get your extended service agreement through Sears! We are having a similar problem with our Maytag Neptune washer. Sears has put over $400 in parts in it so far. It still need s to be fixed! Now they say it needs a transmission and a new brake system so it stops spinning along with other parts totaling about 350 or more dollars! They take so long to get a tech out to you also! Sounds like
Maytag washers aren't built like they were used to. I understand that Whirlpoole has taken over Maytag.Good luck with this!:)
This unit has a speed control (electronic) that is probably defective. Maytag appliances are now garbage, so dont buy another one. All front load wshers have electronic panels that are problematic. For some usefull information, go to http://appliancequickfix.com/
The wax motor on the door lock shorted. This caused the control board to go bad. It's located under the top panel of the dryer (front right). This is not a DIY project. Expect to pay $500.00 This was a nortious problem for all Maytag front loaders. There was a factory recall for this, but it has long since expired.
you have a bad switch, unless that switch works,it will not allow the washer to spin.
