How come our digital thermost clicks everytime it's getting ready to come on or off? Is something wrong with

Question:The digital thermost is in our house and controls our air conditioner and our heater.

Answers:
even though it is digital, it still needs to switch on and off. the click you hear is probably a relay switching the unit on or off.

I assume you are talking about central heating?? If this is the case, the click that you hear is actually the contacts opening/closing. When you hear the click before the heating turns on; the burner comes on for a few seconds before the fan does, so that only warm air comes out of the vents. The click you hear before it cuts out; turns off the burner a few seconds before the fan cuts out to cool the burner.
thats normal.
