My diplomat dishwasher takes over 3 hours in the shortest program to finish then the dishes are not clean?

Sounds like the heater may have gone, When the dishwasher is finished, open the door and see if its hot, if not then that's is your problem, other than that, check your filters are clean and the water is all gone at the end of the programme, this will slow the dishwasher up too. Also make sure your using dishwasher salt, don't rely on the all in one tablets they do not give enough salt to clean the regeneration unit. Once you've check out all these items, get a good dishwasher degreaser from a repair shop, and run that through, make sure the water is getting hot before you put it in.
Do'nt know anything about Diplomat Dishwashers but that don't sound right. My dish washer is my husband or my self we do not take 3 hours to wash 1 load and if he does not wash something clean enough for my liking I make him do it again
Doesn't say much for the Diplomat then does it? I have got a Zanussi and the normal programme takes about an hour. It washes fine providing I use a decent quality detergent. The only time I was disappointed with it's performance was when I used a cheaper supermarket own brand detergent.Plates have usually been OK. It is the clarity and sparkle in the glassware that tells me if it is an OK detergent. OK very heavily soiled or hard baked cooking utensils might prove a bit of a problem for any washer. There are the odd occasions when a bit of elbow grease and a scourer are necessary.
Timings off, sprayers broke, get a new one or have kids or marry a mechanical person. Thats a good idea, I 'm gonna marry Tim (The Toolman) Taylor.
What kind of detergent do you use? ~
Check with the manufacturer, what they program as time for that unit. The timer may have become defective.

Has it always taken this long or is this a new thing? If so, it sounds as though the dishwasher has developed a fault. Two things (in addition to thinking about getting it serviced): make sure the dishwasher is clean - it's amazing how many people try to wash dishes in a dirty dishwasher! Empty the filters and run the dishwasher empty, without detergent then look in the bottom. No doubt there is a ton of crud in there! Clear it out, then run it again with detergent and no dishes, to clean it. Then empty the filters again.
The second thing to do is get the best detergent that you can afford. This will usually be a branded one.
But it sounds to me as though the dishwasher may have developed a fault. Try cleaning it thoroughly first and changing the detergent to see if that makes a difference. If not, you will probably want to think about servicing it or, if it's ancient, replacing it.
