Put red cedar pre primed on house. A bit dusty and dirty. Wash before putting hand prime, painting?

Question:North side of house in New England

Answers:
You will want to wash the cedar to remove the dirt, else your base coat won't stick properly, and will bubble next season. Might consider small amount of detergent in the water to break up the dirt.

Wash it, yes, but it would not be good to use a power washer, sounds like a garden hose would do the job.

Good luck.
