Ductless heat pump runs all the time!?
Question:I have a new LG ductless (called mini split) heat pump unit. No one, the company that installed it, the distributor, or the Customer Service for LG (!) knows how it works. My question is when I have it on "auto" operation (this time of year it's cooling), it works great, but the indoor wall units don't seem to ever turn off! The outside unit goes on and off, but the wall unit fans run continually (or at least they seem to - I haven't sat watching them for hours!). Any ideas?

i sell the LG units to the contractors and i will look into this a little further tomorrow...but it may be that the unit you have runs very simular to alot of window type a/c units...when they are put into the "auto" mode the fan is supposed to run continually and will only kick into high speed when there is a significant differance between the temp in the room and the temp you have told the unit that you require...running your unit with the fan on continually is probably not all that bad as these units use a very state of the art "neo-plasma" filter system and hey , clean air is a good thing and the power to run the fan motor is literally pennies as they use very low amp draw 30 volt dc motors in most units...i'll check my tech support and other info tomorrow and may have further info for you at that time.
ok...i checked where i could and as far as i can tell (i guess the korean to english translator ain't that good) my first assumption is correct. i am waiting for LG to email next week to see if they can shed a little more light on the subject...if your question closes before i recieve the answer feel free to email me and i will pass on what i find out.
the company that installed your system, are puling your leg when they say they don"t know how it works.they installed and are liable for any problems, that is why you have a warranty, you have to really bother them or call,so that they can send someone over to check the problem, report them to the better business bureau, also depending on the temperature in the house your thermostat should shut it off, maybe you have your setting to low,try raising the temperature a little and see if it shuts off,the thermostat controls the inside fan.
