The basic vaastu is like this
Sun rises from SE direction in India so we have Kitchens in SE direction. As in olden days you need to cook with stick or Gobar cakes, and they need to dry to lit the fire easily of the night.
We have master bed in SW because when sun goes to west in the afternoon it is very hot so in olden days they used to insulate more on that side walls for cooling affect, as walls were bigger they used to keep Gold and valuables in that room for safety.
It is just example there are more reasons why vaastu is followed, pls see your comfort first.

in balcony the other doors must be opened in outside due to rain, dust or whatever it is.
