Where is the filter on a Central Air Conditioner?

Question:Our air conditioner isn't working and we need to find the filter. Does anyone have a diagram / skematics or know where the filter is?

Answers:
It will be adjacent to the air handler, and accessible from inside the home. Find the handler, not the exterior compressor, and look on the interior wall closest to unit. This unit should be in garage, sometimes in the ceiling if you have a drop ceiling. If it is to far to be coming out an interior wall than it will be at the base of the unit itself.

It is the same filter as your furnace filter, and it is located on your cold air return, and slides into the duct work located next to the furnace.
