My Home A/C Unit will not work?

Question:Everything inside the house works. Everything is kicking on but the temp just keeping going up. I was told to trip the breaker, I did that and it still wont work. The unit that is outside is what seems to not be working. Everything inside comes on, but the outside unit doesn not come on. The fan wont even move. Any help would be great thanks

Answers:
if the inside unit is running but the outside unit is not .here is possible reasons...1 bad contactor.this is inside the cover on the outside unit and the main power wires go directly to it...2 high pressure switch is kicked...there might be a red button around the bottom of the unit where the freon lines come out...if it has one and when you push it in the compressor starts up.this means the fan on the unit is bad and needs replaced...do not run unit without the fan running as will damage your unit.3 low freon switch has unit shut down because of low freon...was it cooling good before this happened if yes..then this is not whats wrong..if no this could be the problem...4 bad capacitor ..this could be problem if everything on outside unit just hums...5 circuit breaker to outside unit needs reset...this will a different breaker than the one for the inside unit..if this is the problem you should be able to hear the contactor buzzing if you have the inside unit running...that is everything that could be wrong short of the thermostat wires being broke somewhere between air handler and outside unit.

There should be a breaker on the outside of your house near your A/C unit. Check that one. If that doesn't work, then you either need to call someone who works on HVAC equipment or replace your A/C unit.
Sounds like the fuse on the AC unit is blown.
It sound like the contact on the unit may be burnt-ed, or stuck, you can take a screw driver and touch It, but the best think is to turn the breaker off and then check the contact, it should be on the side of the unit, and another thing is the fan might be bad check and see if It froze, and you can also check the fuse box by the unit, you could have a bad fuse, there are two in the box mounted on the wall by the unit, and If you here the compress running then you have a bad fan, hope this help.
Your outside unit isn't working at all, but the everything on the inside is working.
It could be the contact - take your meter and check to see if you have power to the unit. No power - breaker tripped. Power - breaker fine something inside unit wrong.

Check your breaker for the outside unit. Remember the inside system is (usually) seperate from the outside system. Unless you have a heat pump, the outside unit is the only thing that will produce cool air. First turn the thermostat to off. Check your breakers, the A/C unit will be a larger breaker. Don't just trust the trip indicator, or that the breaker is tripped halfway. Turn the breakers off and then back on; yes you may have to reset some clocks. In some cases the breaker for the outside unit is outside next to the unit or just off of the meter box. After you have reset your breakers. Turn the thermostat down to ensure that the unit will start and have someone turn the thermostat to "Cool" while you stand outside next to the unit. If it starts great, but what your trying to determine is why the breaker tripped. If your compressor is going bad and over heating, this probably won't cause the breaker to trip since there is an overload that should trip before it gets to your breaker; and the fan should still work. If the breaker trips when you put the thermostat to cool then you have either a short or a bad breaker. You can get a new breaker for the local hardware store, just kill all the power with the main breaker and take the bad breaker with you to the store. If the new breaker trips then you have a problem between the breaker and the outside unit and should call a pro.
When you say the fan won't even move, did you try to move it? Or did you mean the fan doesn't move when power is supplied? If you tried to move the fan (stick a screwdriver through the grill) and it is frozen; you should still hear the compressor try and start. The compressor will trip (internal) shortly after, but it will still try and start. If you fan is frozen then that could cause the breaker to trip, depending on your unit. Again, an easy fix. Take the fan motor to your local A/C shop and have them get you a new one.
Note: Remove your fan blades, the new motor will not come with the fan blade and if you leave it with the guy you buy the new motor from it will be gone and you'll end up having to buy a new fan blade. Some places require a trade in so don't forget this.
LOOK FOR A RED RESET BUTTON ON CONDENSOR UNIT. IT MAY BE AT THE BOTTOM OF UNIT WHERE PIPES GO IN. WHEN YOU RESET THIS THE FAN WILL COME ON . IF COMPRESSOR COMES ON AND DOESNT THE FAN IS BAD.
the outside fan,is probably defective, you might want to check your fan capacitor, that fan should be on when the ac is running,if not the compressor will shut off, after you get that working check freon.
