Is there a power strip that keeps an older fridge from running continously?

Question:Want to buy, until I can afford an energy star refrigerator.

Answers:
If your fridge is running continuously then its not getting cold enough, time to get a new fridge now.

You can buy a power strip that is timed.

We use one to make our old dehumidifier run only every so often since it just runs all the time if not.

The timed power strip is about $10.95 (LTD, Walmart) and you can se it for 24 hours in 15 minutes increments
Even the older frigs had thermostats that kept them from running continuously. Do not put a timer on your frig until you are ready to buy a new one. If you cut power on and off to the compressor when it needs to run you will burn up the compressor motor fast. Also, and more importantly, you could lose all the food in your frig because you could mess up the temp.
Your problem in your frig is one of two things: Bad thermostat or low refrigerant charge. - I would lean towards the refrigerant. If you cut out your compressor you could lose temp.
You may be better off renting a fridge on a rent to own basis. With your current fridge running all the time, your probably spending an extra $20+ a month anyway.
