Hardwood rot repair question?

Question:I have had a leak from the shower which obviously has either rotted or severely softened the wood under the tile. I was reading that there is a product called dr. rot that is an epoxy/resin type stuff that can streghthen the wood. Has anyone tried it or a similar product? I really cant afford to replace the wood right now.

Answers:
They have this same type of product at Lowe's. It is located in the "paint" department... and yes it does work. The wood has to be completely dry for it to work...and you will need to remove all the loose wood from the rotted area...a wire brush works well for this. it smells kinda bad for a bit...but it does work.

i would sure try it especially if my funds were tight, and that first answer is good, dry wood and remove loose stuff.
