When your fridge is starting to make noises, does it mean that it's breaking down?
Question:I've used it for 6 to 7 years already.
Answers:
First thing to check is if the niose is coming from inside the fridge or outside.
If inside, it's usually in the freezer and almost always the circulator fan hitting an ice buildup...defrost the fridge and let it dry out.
If outside the fridge it is very likely dirt and dust in bothe the radiator fins and especially in the intake fan...carefully clean them.
Once cleaned up, your fridge will thank you by using a lot less energy and run quieter.
My current fridge is 30 years old and running great.
Have you defrosted the freezer anytime recently?
I've had my fridge for 9 years now, my last one was about 14 years, so I am inclined to think no.
I would say if it just started it could be the warm weather causing the metal to expand and when the motor runs it is causing it to vibrate at a different frequency than it did before because of a slight change in position / location.
If it is an abnormal noise such as, a repeated clicking then it could be the relay is in need of replacement.
If you know of anyone good with electricy have them test the current draw when it is operating then you will know. If it is drawing too much current the motor is in need of replacement and is on its way out. If not then a device is faulty and needs replacement or it is vibration.
keep checking your freezer... ours was making noise (only 3 yrs old) then all the sudden freezer stopped. Get your spoon ready lotsa icecream to eat. had it fixed then 2 weeks later the compressor went. (Thanks Frigidare!) Keep an eye on your freezer.
Depends on the noise and where it's coming from. ~
