Does a gas fire have to be fitted when installing new central heating?
Question:
Answers:
no..you can have a gas fire or not...you dont need a new one unless you dont like the design of it or it doesnt clear a gas safety check
No - I have gas central heating, but no gas fire.
you need to be more specific with your question.
Absolutely not. Perhaps you are used to a back boiler scenario where there is a gas fire and the boiler is behind it. You can have a separate boiler installed and depending upon your home, this can be wall or floor mounted, most likely somewhere in your kitchen but not necessarily. There are strict regualtions for safety reasons. A CORGI registered engineer will advise. Even if self fitting, you will need one to "sign it off" as being up to the regulations' specification.
you wont have any need for a gas fire.
I too have central heating and no gas fire
More than likely it is an option for you. You say that it is NEW central heating. So your contractor is probably suggesting other options. You may not find the need today for a gas fireplace insert, but it might be wise to have the contractor run the gas line to the fireplace for future potential. I.E. Tastes change over time, Resale to prospective buyer, Alternate heating source, etc.

not unless its runs the central heating (no boiler
If your fire runs the hot water and the central heating then yes, unless you get a combi-boiler fitted in which case the gas fitter will alter the pipes to make the combi-boiler run both the hot water and radiators. And if you wish you could have a fire fitted as a focal point in the main room.
Nope, you can have one, but they're not a necessity. Probably not the most economic way of heating a room though.
no i have no gas in my house but have central heating
