Replacing a single knob tub/shower faucet and replacing it with another single knob tub/ shower faucet..HELP!?

Question:the new knob doesn't fit! i thought, since i was replacing it with another single handle knob; it would fit, but i guess not! what can i do? do you think i need a professional plumber for this job??

Answers:
Moen and Delta are two different balls. They are not a universal fit. Take the old ball out and mark its position. Match it up at your hardware or plumbing supply shop and install the new ball in the same position. If you get it in upside down, your hot and cold will be reversed.

no pro needed. just take the old one and match up the way it is attached to the valve... danco makes some to fit all types with differant adapters... good luck
