Air conditioner from upstairs leaked and caused seriou damages?

Question:It has caused the ceiling to start falling down, the wall there to buckle and saturated the capet in my house in that area. The regeime managment company has sent out the people to fix the unit upstairs and someone to teaar up my carpeting and dry it and then they will repair the wall and ceiling. However they have told me that this is an interior problem so it's mine to deal with. He said if they want to do the right thing then the people upstairs would pay the bill, otherwise its mine. The regeime will start with talking to the other owner (its a rental) but that owner may not do anything. I'll have to pay up front for the repairs and then try to get them to pay, or else they may just pay upfront. What to do?

Answers:
i would contact my insurance and ask them what to do the people should have to fix anything that was damaged its just like if i was driving a car and crashed in to your house i would be held responsible to fix it or my insurance company would be i would call them and ask them what i should do

Find out who owns the unit upstairs and contact their insurance company. Also contact your insurance company. The key word here is "MOLD". The insurance companies are deathly afraid of it and someone will rather help with repairs that could be affordable versus a mold remediation which could cost tens of thousands.
