What makes that noise in my plumbing pipes?

Question:It isn't a banging noise. It's more of a howling, whining noise. I recently replaced the entire valve assembly in the toilet tank. But why would that make a difference? Nevertheless, I opened and shut the valves for the toilet and the house supply. Is there air in there? The noise is coming from the house overall more than near the toilet. Thanks!

Answers:
I would assume that the noise is only when a valve is open some where.

You just have to try all of the valves until you find the one that makes the noise.

Turning the pressure down in the supply lines can cut the noise down or stop it.

It sounds like a valve that is corroded and not shutting off completely, allowing some water to seep by. If it was the banging or hammering, then I would have said air in the line.
its air..pressure building up and letting go..kinda like farting
lmao
hahah i couldnt resist..OOPS SORRY!!
but hats what it is
It's called "water hammer". It is caused by a combination of no air inside the piping system, and pipes that weren't properly secured inside the walls. The piping system should have some pipes located in the uppermost portion of the house, that are called air chambers.. A simple fix is to turn the main water valve to the house off, and open all the faucets, to drain the water out of the pipes, and allow air to enter. Now shut all the faucets, and turn the water back on, and it should relieve the problem. If you don't have these air chambers, some mechanical devices can be installed into the system, to help relieve the problem. good luck!
